Community Dancers Wanted for Birmingham Weekender 2026

Join Propel Dance, the UK's first and only professional wheelchair dance company, as we create a brand-new community dance performance for Birmingham Weekender this August.

We're looking for around 25 community dancers to perform alongside our professional company dancers in the finale of one of Birmingham's biggest free arts festivals.

Who can take part?

Everyone is welcome!

This is an open and inclusive opportunity for:

  • Disabled and non-disabled people

  • People with any level of dance experience, including none at all

  • Existing Freewheelin' members and anyone who is new to Propel Dance

Taking part is completely free, including all rehearsals and the performance. All we ask is that you're able to commit to the full rehearsal schedule so we can create the piece together. The first rehearsal takes place on Wednesday 22 July 2026.

Rehearsals will be held at the University of Birmingham Sports Centre and Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), with the final performance taking place at Bullring Birmingham as part of Birmingham Weekender on Saturday 29 August 2026.

This exciting project has been commissioned by Birmingham Hippodrome and made possible thanks to funding from the John Feeney Trust.
