About the Show: Scene by Scene

Scene One - Goblins

Four naughty goblins work together to create a magical mirror which reflects all that is good and beautiful back to the viewer as negative and grotesque. They want this mirror to effect the whole of the world. They lift the mirror up high, they drop the mirror and it smashes into tiny sharp pieces of glass. The wind blows the glass all over the world.

Scene Two - Friendship Duet

Gerda and Kay live next door to each other. Their houses are so close they can reach across their windows and almost reach each other. They are best friends and have grown up together. They spend their days playing and laughing together.

Scene Three - The Snow Queen

The Snow Queen has arrived in Gerda and Kay’s home village. She is the villain of our story. She is evil, heartless, cold and cut off from empathy and kindness. There is great pain in her past which has made her this way. She hunts like a predator looking for her prey. She seeks someone to take back to her ice palace to keep as her own to maybe end her loneliness. But to do this she will control and manipulate that person to do as she wishes.

 Scene Four - The Village

Gerda and Kay play together with not a worry in the world. A local villager arrives who has seen the Snow Queen is here and tries to warn Gerda and Kay. The villager explains that the Snow Queen’s presence will take all your warmth away and chill you to the bone. She will freeze your heart so you can’t feel joy anymore. She will put you into her trance so you can’t leave. The villager also tries to warn them about the sharp pieces of Goblin glass that may fall into your eyes and will leave you seeing everything in the world as negative and grotesque and you will no longer see the joy in the world.

Gerda and Kay don’t listen to the villager and carry on playing together until pieces of smashed Goblin glass fall from the sky right into Kay’s eyes. Instantly Gerda notices something is wrong with Kay and he isn’t acting like he normally does. He has become mean and doesn’t want to play with Gerda anymore. Gerda and the villager try and reason with Kay to help him, but he won’t listen.

The Snow Queen arrives and notices Kay is all alone and takes the opportunity to entice him away. Kay instantly falls under the Snow Queen’s trance distracted by her presence and the power she offers him and follows her away to her ice palace.

 Scene Five - The Quest

Gerda is left all alone. Where did Kay go? She is upset and worried about her friend. She doesn’t know where to start to look for him. A friendly crow notices Gerda is upset and goes to see what is wrong. Gerda explains she has lost her friend and needs to find him. The crow offers to help Gerda look for her friend Kay. They set off on their quest to find him. Years pass but they continue on their journey. At times Gerda gets frustrated and sad but the crow helps her to stay positive and continue searching. Gerda is determined to find her friend and will not stop until she has.

 Scene Six - Ice Ritual

The Snow Queen has captured Kay and has taken him to her Ice Palace, along with her ice servant help she keeps Kay under her trance. Kay has moments of remembering who he is and is confused about where he is now and wants to leave, but the Snow Queen controls him again to stay. By the end Kay is complete under the Snow Queens power.

 Scene Seven - The Finale

Kay is now completely under the Snow Queens control. The Snow Queen sits on her throne pleased with what she has done. Gerda and the crow arrive at the Snow Queen’s palace. The cold freezes their bodies, it’s a struggle to carry on. They search for Kay.
